The event was organized by the Christian Mission “Spiritual and Charitable Care in Places of Imprisonment” (Prison Fellowship Ukraine), headed by Executive Director Vyacheslav Kogut and Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine, Olena Vysotska

The Prayer Breakfast was attended by representatives of the DKVS, prison chaplains, religious organizations, representatives of the Ministry of Health, representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches, representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, volunteers, politicians and public figures.

Prayers for Ukraine’s victory over the aggressor, the return of de-occupied territories, war victims, prisoners, and penitentiary service workers became an important part of the event. Prayers were performed by all those present: both representatives of religious organizations and state officials.

During the prayer for the Service of Execution of Criminal Punishments, Serhiy Grechanyuk – Head of the Department for Execution of Criminal Punishments of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, and Andriy Shpachynskyi – a former convict who is now a soldier in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stood on the same stage. He came to the prayer breakfast from the front line.
Vyacheslav Kogut, director of the Christian Mission “DBOMPV”, told the audience about the Mission’s work in penitentiary institutions. Since 2002, the mission has provided spiritual and material support to prisoners and staff of correctional institutions. Now the main directions are assistance to evacuated personnel, prisoners and their relatives. Procuring generators, conducting charity events and providing food aid during wartime are extremely important for penitentiaries.

Also during the event, former prisoners shared their stories of conversion to God.
At the end of the Prayer Breakfast, Mykhailo Stepanovych Panochko offered a prayer for the forgiveness of sins and the blessing of Ukraine.
