The “Listen to Believe” program was developed by the Prison Fellowship International – PFI. Prison Fellowship International is a non-governmental organization that has consultative status (category II) with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Prison Fellowship International (PFI) actively promotes peace and justice and provides assistance to prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families in 120 countries around the world.
The basis of the spiritual and educational program “The Listenerʼs way” is the Gospel from Luke. The program itself takes place in the form of training, the main method of training work with convicts is a discussion. Thanks to the discussion, the participants have the opportunity to discuss issues from different sides, to develop a common opinion on the most pressing issues. The discussion helps the participants to eliminate emotional bias, helps to reduce the resistance to the perception of new information, this happens due to the development of new group guidelines.
Through the discussion, each member of the group has the opportunity to share individual experiences, open up, experience catharsis; to develop effective communication and interaction skills (ability to listen, argue, counter-argument, etc.).
Discussion methods are used throughout the program, first the participants watch a film based on the Gospel of Luke, then the reviewed material is subject to discussion, transferring the situation that unfolded in the film to the real life situations of the group members.
