ALL-UKRAINIAN UNION OF EVANGELICAL BAPTIST CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATIONS

50 missions, 45 rehabilitation centers in different regions of Ukraine, more than 300 missionaries, 40 chaplains. Service in penitentiary institutions is handled by the Department of Prison Service at the Union of Unions of the EHB. The prison ministry has been carried out by the communities of our association for more than thirty years. Pastors, preachers, chaplains, and volunteers visit penitentiary institutions every Sunday. Everyone is invited to the meeting. The study of the Holy Scriptures is conducted. On the days of major holidays, large religious services are held with the participation of choirs and musical groups. Chaplains hold individual meetings with those wishing to receive pastoral care once a week. ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH

“You are condemned, but not doomed. Each of you, with the help of God’s grace, can become a saint” (John Paul II). Service was held in twelve institutions. Ways of service: individual meetings (spiritual conversations, spiritual support), preparation for the sacraments for those who wish, sermons, services, catechization (teaching the basics of the Christian faith), concerts of religious ensembles (including those created by convicts), psychological group classes, creative master classes, sports classes, a football match between volunteers and convicts, film screenings, theater performances. Humanitarian activity consists in the transfer of clothes to the personnel of institutions for distribution among convicts. 30 people are involved in the service, including 12 priests, other lay volunteers.

CENTER OF INDEPENDENT CHARISMATIC CHRISTIAN CHURCHES OF UKRAINE (FULL GOSPEL)

The organizational nature of our ministry is all-Ukrainian. There are 13 regional bishops in the Association who carry out work in their regions. The newspaper “Cornerstone” constantly covers the topic of working with people in places of deprivation of liberty. The direction of service is to bring the Good News to those behind bars and their loved ones. There are volunteers in almost all regions. Started working in 1996. UKRAINIAN CHRISTIAN EVANGELICAL CHURCH

The Christian Mission “Evangelical Mercy” at the UHEC began its activities in the institutions of the DDUPVP in 1991 from one colony. The ministry is constantly spreading in different regions of Ukraine, and now every month the ministers of the mission regularly conduct 210 ministries in 56 colonies of the country. About 1,500 people regularly visit the churches in the colonies. After the liberation, about 1,200 people began to attend churches. One of the projects of the Mission is the adaptation of ex-convicts in society. The mission purchased and leased 8 houses where ex-convicts live. At this time, about 150 ministers work permanently in the “Evangelical Mercy” Mission, and about 850 volunteers take part in concert programs. The activity is not limited only to visiting convicts in colonies, but also extends to native convicts and their children.

UKRAINIAN GREEK CATHOLIC CHURCH

Revival of UGCC pastoral care in penitentiary institutions of Ukraine began in 1989. The Department of Pastoral Care in the penitentiary system of Ukraine is responsible for coordinating the ministry of the UGCC in correctional colonies and prisons. Each of the 12 dioceses on the territory of Ukraine has a chief chaplain. More than 200 priests, seminarians, monks and lay people take part in the service. Among them are 37 chaplains. Most of the priests received certificates of mastering the basic level of competence for work in penitentiary institutions. The main areas of service are preaching, catechesis, administration of the Holy Mysteries, assistance in maintaining ties with the family, training, priests and volunteers are the foundations of the mission of the Church in prisons. Sunday about the Prodigal Son, two weeks before Great Lent, is declared in the Church as a Day of special pastoral care and prayer for prisoners.

UKRAINIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH – ORTHODOX CHURCH OF UKRAINE

The Department for Spiritual Education in Prisons was established on May 14, 2001. The main goal of the department is to spread the Orthodox faith, meet the religious needs of believers, take care of religious and moral education and missionary activity in places of deprivation of liberty, including special treatment facilities. The department carries out the following tasks: teaches people the Christian way of life, promotes spiritual and moral revival in places of deprivation of liberty through the preaching of the Gospel, and the study of the Law of God; performs Divine Service and spiritual sacraments, rites (baptism, confession, communion, wedding, etc.); carries out spiritual and moral work with relatives of prisoners and victims. 38 priests work in 19 dioceses.

UKRAINIAN UNION CONFERENCE OF THE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH

The ministry of Chaplains of the ASD Church was started as a service of the General Conference in 1985. In 1995, this service grew into a separate department. From 1990 to 2003, the Christian Association for Serving Convicts (KHASO) operated in the ASD Church. In 1993, ХАСО was reorganized into the Christian Mission of Service to Convicts under the Eurasian Division of the ASD Church, with its assignment to the Sabbath School and Personal Ministry Department. The mission of Adventist chaplaincy is to implement the ministry of chaplains in all divisions of the ASD Church.

UKRAINIAN CHURCH OF CHRISTIANS OF THE EVANGELICAL FAITH

More than a thousand ministers and volunteers visit penitentiary institutions of Ukraine, where they are engaged in spiritual guidance and care of people who have found themselves in places of deprivation of liberty.

Servants and volunteers carry out prevention of negative phenomena and suicide, organize competitions of prison poetry, fine arts and a competition for Bible verses. They also often organize festive concerts and performances for convicts, timed to official Christian holidays

An integral part of the service is the motivation of convicts to undergo a course of reintegration and adaptation after release.

UKRAINIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH

The synodal department for pastoral care of the penitentiary system is a structural subdivision of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, whose main task is the coordination of spiritual and pastoral activities in places of deprivation of liberty. The department was established on July 9, 2009. Today, about 210 priests, together with lay volunteers, participate in prison ministry throughout Ukraine. The priority directions of spiritual pastoral work are the performance of divine services and holy sacraments (Confession, Eucharist, etc.), spiritual conversations and catechetical work.

The history of the creation and development of the prison ministry of SVTSKYEVU is closely connected with the ministry of the “GOLVOFA” and “BLAGODAT” churches. Over the past 18 years of worship services in the prison community of Buchanska VC No. 85, more than 320 people have been converted to the Lord, and 230 people have received Holy water baptism by faith. The total number of ministers responsible for prison ministry is more than 30 people. Many of them have a special chaplaincy education. Clergymen of the SVTSKYEVU carry out a permanent service to create a “Church inside a prison” in BVK No. 85, BVK No. 35, BVK No. 95, BVK No. 91, BVK No. 135. We actively cooperate with the “Cornerstone” mission, helping in the ministry of rehabilitation of ex-convicts. We constantly implement social projects and develop Christian education among convicts. Special attention is paid to the staff of correctional institutions and the families of convicts.
